Fuel prices are on the move again, and this time it's a mixed bag! Gasoline prices are rising, but diesel and kerosene are about to get cheaper.
On Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, fuel retailers are shaking things up with some interesting changes. Chevron Philippines Inc. (Caltex), Petron Corp., Seaoil Philippines Corp., and Shell Pilipinas Corp. have announced a hike in gasoline prices by P0.20 per liter. But here's the catch: they're lowering diesel prices by P2.90 and kerosene by a significant P3.20 per liter.
Other companies like Cleanfuel, Petro Gazz, PTT Philippines Corp., and Unioil Petroleum Philippines Inc. are following suit, except for kerosene, which they don't offer.
Most of these changes will kick in at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, except for Cleanfuel, which will make the adjustments a little later at 8:01 a.m.
This news comes after the Department of Energy-Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) predicted rollbacks this week, considering the potential Ukraine-Russia ceasefire and its impact on Western sanctions. And get this—they also mentioned the possibility of an oversupply in the oil market!
Last week, firms reduced gasoline prices by P0.20 per liter but increased diesel and kerosene prices. As of November 25th, 2025, gasoline prices have risen by P19.70 per liter, diesel by P24.65, and kerosene by P18.60 per liter since the start of the year.
But here's where it gets controversial: are these price changes really beneficial for consumers? With the ongoing global energy crisis, it's a delicate balance between supply, demand, and affordability. What do you think? Is this a fair adjustment, or are there other factors at play?
